Job Description:


The Project Coordinator is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of assigned projects in accordance with EPHA’s mission, strategic objectives and project approaches.

Job Responsibility #1:  Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation 

  • Collects, compiles, analyzes and disseminate information/ data to support the project planning, implementation and decision - making;
  • In collaboration with the department team, analyzes approved plan, adjust activity plan and provides adaptive management for its full implementation;
  • Conduct participatory monitoring of projects is implemented by EPHA and its members;
  • Ensures that all required information/data is made available for project appraisal, monitoring and evaluation and and  decision making;
  • Seeks for grants from different sources and develops grant proposals;
  • Participates in all grant agreement negotiation and all budgets of new grant proposals;
  • Identifies research agendas, and plan and undertake research works in collaboration with the Research coordinator.

Job Responsibility #2:  Program Implementation and Technical Support

  • Guides and Coordinates the implementation of of EPHA projects;
  • Supports the development of high performing teams at the project level;
  • Works with all EPHA staff to assess and identify technical assistance needs with regard to technical skills, income generating activities, partnership and networking, supervision support, etc. for new and ongoing projects;
  • Ensures that project activities are implemented in collaboration with all stakeholders at different levels;  
  • Coordinates and strengthens research centers Network;
  • Supervises and assures the overall quality of surveillance;
  • Conducts surveys and research works;
  • Investigates and standardizes study deigns and methodological issues of research centers;
  • Develops, reviews  and approves survillances, survey and research  protocols, tools and data capturing forms;
  • Develops data use and sharing policies and strategies;
  • Follows up and evaluates Events Registration system and community based causes of death;
  • Makes researches using Verbal Autopsy Methods;
  • Arranges necessary logistics for surveillance, survey and research activities;
  • Identifies gaps and provides appropriate research capacity building training's;
  • Designs data quality assurance system for surveillance, survey and research activities;
  • Assists in managing longitudinal data sets and joint analysis using appropriate statistical tools; 
  • Initiates research ideas and collaborates with research team in conducting researches;
  • Disseminates research findings including that of surveillance and survey results; presents key findings for key partners;

Job Responsibility #3: Staff Management

  • Manages, supervises, leads guides and supports the staff responsible to him/her;
  • Supports the development of high performing teams and ensures that appropriate procedures and policies are followed;
  • Completes performance planning, monitoring, and annual performance appraisals of direct reports.

Job Responsibility #4: Networking, Learning and Reporting

  • Establishes and maintains formal and informal communication mechanisms with governmental and health institutions, donors and other stakeholders;
  • Participates in the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned;
  • Produces quarterly, bi-annual and annual performance reports to the supervisor.      

Job Responsibility #5:  Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor;

DEPARTMENT:  Projects and Grants Management

REPORTS TO:  Projects and Grants Management Director

Duration:  For 6 months with the possibility of extension

Job Requirements:


  • MPH, Preferably MPH in in Epidemiology and Biostatistics
  • Training with Health Background
  • Six years relevant work experience.


  • Project development, preparation and implementation skills
  • Demonstrated technical ability, sound judgment and ability to work effectively with others at all levels;
  • Computer Proficiency;
  • Knowledgeable in data management and statistical software including Epi-Info, SPSS, Stata, and R
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
